10 Things You Didn’t Know About DGTL 2019

DGTL will be back in Barcelona for its 5th Edition!

With a reputation for being a party that brings together some of the biggest names in underground electronic music, DGTL is one of those parties that every clubber needs to check out. The festival will be returning to Barcelona for its 5th edition on August 23rd and 24th 2019 and the team have been working hard to make this edition the most memorable one so far. Clubbers get ready to learn 10 things you didn’t know about DGTL 2019.

Did you know that…

1) Barcelona was the 1st city that staged DGTL outside of the Netherlands.

The Dutch festival concept, DGTL, is coming back to Barcelona and every year it just keeps growing bigger and bigger. This city has a special place in the heart of the DGTL creators as it represents the first place the festival came to outside of its home of The Netherlands. Since then, the team behind it all have taken the concept all over the world including to Tel Aviv, Sao Paulo and Santiago de Chile making it a truly global rave endeavour.

2) DGTL is not only about the music, but also about the artistic vision.

The DGTL team boast the mixing of 3 key basic values: music, technology and sustainability. This is the ethos behind what makes DGTL one of the most respected music festivals in the world. When you attend, you will be taken back by the attention to detail of the infrastructure of the stages and all of the eye-catching industrial artwork. This artistic energy combined with amazing electronic music at an industrial venue like Parc del Forum makes DGTL Barcelona one of the most popular festivals with Spanish locals and tourists.

3) DJ Harvey will be playing!

Yes, that’s right, there is a rare treat this year and that is, the UK born US based disco king, DJ Harvey will be gracing the decks. Get ready for a very memorable musical experience because as you know, this guy has got some absolute tunes. He will be playing on DAY 1Friday 23rd August!

4) DGTL Barcelona is the fastest growing show of the DGTL family!

In its first years, the Barcelona version of the festival attracted 20K people, however, it has grown in size and now attracts over 35K people for a two-day rave under the glorious Catalonian sun. That’s nearly double the capacity after only 5 years!

5) This is no secret… DGTL is one of the cleanest festivals you will find…

DGTL is recognised in the electronic music scene as one of the good guys and has even won an award in 2017 at BIME’s Premios Fest for being Spain’s Most Sustainable Festival. It is one of the most environmentally friendly festivals in the world and the team are very proud of this achievement. This year there is even going to be the launching of a new sustainability initiative called the “Revolution Program”. The program will be announced at the end of June, stay tuned for an article that will talk more about it.

6) Rare B2B sets are a BIG highlight of the festival!

Like last year, this year there will also be 4 stages that will feature headliners such as ANNA, Charlotte de Witte, Chris Liebing, Dj Harvey, Jeff Mills, Len Faki, Sonja Moonear, Mano Le Tough, Marcel Dettmann, Pan-Pot and Seth Troxler. However, DGTL is known for mixing things up a bit and getting creative and is once again showcasing a number of unique and rare back to back (b2b) sets including one from Recondite b2b Marcus Worgull and another from Tiga b2b Dubfire.

7) You can now book yourself in to stay at the DGTL Hostel.

This year the DGTL team have entered the hospitality industry and have created the new DGTL Hostel. The hostel will be a unique sleeping space for those attending the festival and will have enough room to sleep 400 people in 8 and 4 person rooms (mixed or female only). Definitely a place to stay if you want to meet like-minded music lovers and conveniently only four metro stops away from the venue, Parc del Forum. Link to book the hostel is here

8) There are going to be plenty of ground-breaking Live Acts!

In addition to DJ’s spinning tunes, DGTL will also feature a number of live performances from artists like Colin Benders, Henrik Schwarz, HVOB, Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, Mr. G, Octo Octa, Satori and Xosar. A line up of such names can only ensure very high tune quality.

9) DGTL has some absolutely delicious gourmet vegetarian food.

The food you will find at DGTL is 100% vegetarian. That’s right, like previous years this year will be no different and the festival food court will be full of gourmet vegetarian pop up stalls serving some amazing snacks and dishes. The quality of the food at the festival is very high and the ethos behind going 100% vegetarian stems from the love that the team have for the environment as true believers of sustainable living.

10) The festival is taking place in one of the most vibing cities in the world.

Surprise Surprise…. DGTL is taking place in no other than…. Barcelona! Yes, the festival is taking place in one of the coolest international cities. A beachside cosmopolitan metropolis with one of the best social vibes one can find in Europe. When you are not raving at Parc del Forum, you can enjoy the beautiful city, check out the sites and taste the local cuisines. Barcelona is by the sea and also has hills so you can hang out by the beach or enjoy lovely panoramic views from Tibidabo or the Bunkers of Carmel. The city generally is a perfect place to chill before and after DGTL to rest, recoup and re-energise.
