7. WORKSHOP: CULTIVATING DIGITAL INDEPENDENCE

WHEN: 11:00 – 12:30
WHERE: CASA BASE

SPEAKERS: PIETER VAN RIJN, Ceo of FUGA

Whether a steadfast indie, major or startup rights-holder organization, there is nothing minor about the decisions surrounding your digital approach. Rights-holder longevity and success is increasingly tied to digital initiatives and in many ways that means finding the right set of tools for maintaining or increasing independence and control. With the influx of affordable tools, the playing field has somewhat been leveled. But where does it make sense to cut corners vs when does one absolutely need to invest in enterprise solutions? What workflows or value propositions do rights-holders need to take ownership of and what does this all mean for the unique anatomy and relevance of a label and publisher?

This panel will look at the decisions a rights-holder needs to make when constructing their digital setup. From the economics of distribution to the technical requirements of delivery, DSP relationships, publishing, analytics, royalty reporting, marketing and everything in between, this group of experts will discuss their experiences with an independent setup that sees success on digital platforms.

2. GENDER EQUALITY IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, ITALY AND BEYOND

WHEN: 18:00 – 19:30
WHERE: BASE SPAZIO B

SPEAKERS: NUR AL HABASHSARA – ANDREANI – VANESSA REED MAILA SANSAINI – GEORGIA TAGLIETTI

Gender Equality is a (unfortunately necessary) hot topic in the global music community. In Italy, for long time this has been given short shrift by the national music business, where executive positions and festival lineups seem predominately male. A change is necessary for the sake of developing the amazing talent existing and emerging within the industry and among the artists.
What’s the state of the art in Italy, as compared to the rest of the world? What’s the artist’s point of view?
Linecheck’s opening panel presents shesaid.so, just launched in Italy, Keychange and other networks and organizations that inspire, show alternatives and help to feature – in the end – talent, not gender.
